Sofia marathon ends with new records

Yusef Sbaai and Reduan Nouini, Morocco won the 37th edition of the Sofia marathon, crossing the finish line together.

The two also set a new record for this race course, clocking 2 hours, 13 minutes and 3 seconds. Still, after a photo finish Yusef Sbai was declared winner of the race.

In the women’s marathon victory went to Victoria Hapilina, Ukraine, who also registered the best time in the history of the marathon – 2 hours, 27 minutes and 59 seconds.

This year’s edition of the marathon started from Alexander Battenberg square at 9.30 with over 2,700 contestants in the 42, 21 and 10-kilometer distances. Because of the coronavirus pandemic the 3-kilometer race did not take place.
