Residents of Sofia’s Gorubliane district are to block at 4 pm today the main road artery of Bulgaria’s capital- Tsarigradsko Shose Boulevard  to protest against corruption, Ivan Dimitrov from Gorubliane Initiative Committee announced at last night’s protest.

Earlier, Irish MEP Clare Daly delivered a speech to the protesters who gathered in the so-called Triangle of Power downtown Sofia. She called for the immediate resignation of Bulgaria’s cabinet and this country’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. Clare Daly voiced confidence that the demands of the protesters will be met.

“You will change your country- you, the ordinary citizens of Bulgaria. Your country is very beautiful. However, I saw roads that need repair and uncultivated agricultural land”, MEP Daly pointed out in he speech.

At the end of the protest rally, which passed without accidents, demonstrators joined the traditional procession to Eagles’ Bridge. The intersection on Eagle’s Bridge was blocked for nearly one hour.
