Aladzha monastery rises close to Varna on the Black Sea, and is one of the most popular local landmarks. Its frescoes are from the 13th – 14th century. After the Ottoman invasion of Bulgaria, at the end of the 14th century, Aladzha monastery gradually fell into ruin, and by the end of the 15th or the beginning of the 16th century was abandoned completely.
