On November 19, Bulgaria marks 135 years since the victory at the battle of Slivnitsa. This was the first victory of the Bulgarian army after the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule in 1878. The Slivnitsa battle in 1885 successfully defended the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia.

That is why the date November 19 is also marked at the Day of the Land Forces in Bulgaria, which are the most numerous type of troops in the Bulgarian army.
