Record number of deaths in November have been reported by the National Statistical Institute. A total of 15,964 people passed away. The rise compared to November 2019 is 50%. In October, the mortality rate compared to the same month in 2019 was 23% higher.

The grim statistics coincide with the second wave of Covid-19. However, reported deaths from coronavirus are 2681, while the total number of deaths was 7849 higher compared to November last year. According to statisticians, the difference of 5168 deaths is caused by the fear of Bulgarians to seek medical help during pandemic. Another view is that the actual Covid-19 morbidity is higher than reported, newspaper "24 hours" writes.
