Natural gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria are beginning as of today, 31 December.

Until 1 October, 2021, the gas will flow via the Nea Mesimvria point in Greece’s gas transmission system. After that it will pass along the Komotini-Makaza gas interconnection Greece – Bulgaria (IGB).

Under the contract concluded, Bulgargaz is to receive 1 billion cubic metres of natural gas a year from the Shah Deniz 2 gas field over a period of 25 years, the BTA reports.

The transaction was concluded in accordance with the policy of the Bulgarian government aimed at diversifying the sources and the supply routes of natural gas, guaranteeing the safety of the deliveries and providing competitive prices for Bulgarian consumers.
