Online trade in Bulgaria registers 72% growth in pandemic

The turnover in retail trade of food, beverages and cigarettes in November 2020 was 14.4% lower than in the same month of 2019. This is indicated by data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI). Sales of automotive fuels have also declined by 15.8%. A decrease is also reported in the retail sale of clothing, footwear, textiles and leather goods by 25.4%.

However, the coronavirus pandemic has had a positive effect on online commerce, which has grown by 72% year on year. Sales of medicines have also increased - by 12%. Bulgarians also buy more furniture and household appliances, as their turnover has increased by 4.8% compared to last year, according to the NSI survey.
