The cargo was detected in May 2020 during import into the country across the Danube Bridge - 2 at the Calafat-Vidin checkpoint. It was transported by a Bulgarian company, which services monitored as a high-risk one in terms of cross-border transportation of waste. An investigation established that the shipment was illegal under EU Regulation (EC) 1013/2006 on shipments of waste.
