An exhibition of restored and latest generation public transport vehicles begins on Alexander Nevsky Square downtown Sofia on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Sofia Public Transport. A retro tram will offer several free-of-charge trips in the center of Bulgaria’s capital, BNR reporter Dobromir Tsvetkov informed.

The first tramcar was launched in operation in Sofia on January 1, 1901, setting the beginning of electric transport in Bulgaria. The first tramcar ran along line № 13 from the Central Railway Station to present-day Slaveykov Square. The appearance of the tram transport in Sofia was due to Mayor Dimitar Petkov / 1888-1893 /, who was at the basis of the first plans to bring electricity to the city.
