2.8% of healthcare expenditure in Bulgaria spent on preventive care

On average in the EU, public and private expenditure on preventive care accounted for 2.8% of total health expenditure in 2018. In Bulgaria, public and private expenditure on preventive care also accounted for 2.8% of total health expenditure, BTA informs. 

Highest shares were recorded in Italy (4.4%) and Finland (4%). Relative to population size, preventive care expenditure was highest among the EU member states in Sweden (EUR 165 per capita).  In Bulgaria, healthcare expenditure on preventive care amounted to EUR 17 per capita.
