Shortly after Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev and this country’s Vice-President Iliana Yotova announced their decision to run for a second term of office, the Speaker of Bulgaria’s National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva reproached President Radev for a lack of dialogue with the institutions. In her view, Rumen Radev’s decision would not influence the Parliamentary elections in April, but will make GERB party nominate a strong Presidential candidate.
Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev was surprised with President Radev’s decision. “I thought that he would admit that he made big mistakes and caused great division of the nation and eventually announce that he would not seek a second term”, said Georg Georgiev.
The leader of the civic platform “Izpravise.BG” Maya Manolova told BNR that she would support President Radev’s candidature for a second term of office.
