The dome of the bell tower of the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Theotokos, the most emblematic church in Bulgaria's seaside port city Varna  has been gilded. The other domes are to be gilded as well.
The gilding has been made possible thanks to a donor who wished to remain anonymous.

The complete renovation of the roof and domes, which began in October last year, is worth nearly 1.5m euros. The funds have been provided by the municipality, the government and other donors.

The roof of the Varna cathedral has not been repaired since the inauguration of the church back in 1886, BNR Varna reported.
