One of the two largest trade unions in Bulgaria – The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), adopted a Memorandum on the key areas, parameters and goals that Bulgaria believes should be pursued in economic and social terms.

CITUB demands an annual wage increase of 13% to 15% in the next 4 years. Salaries in Bulgaria should amount to two-thirds of the average salary in the EU by 2025, the trade union further demands. CITUB insists that Bulgaria adopt targeted measures to support Bulgarian nationals who lose their jobs abroad and return to their home country. Moreover, the state authorities must aim at speeding up digitalization, restructuring the economy, enhancing social security and reforming solidarity-based systems.

In an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov announced that the document would ask parties for clear commitments on national goals, which would not depend on the party that held the power, but on the economic and social needs, as well as opportunities that Bulgaria could use.
