European Commission starts discussion over Bulgarian protest calls

The European Commission launches a discussion in the EU and the European Parliament on the negative impact of texts from the Mobility I Package. A letter from EU Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean to ministers in the EU confirms Bulgaria's position that returning the vehicle home every 8 weeks and cabotage rules contradicted the Green Deal and climate neutrality plans.

The inspection shows that the regulations lead to 3.3 million tons of additional CO2 emissions per year. Up to 704 tons of nitrogen oxides and 251 tons of solid particles will be generated, too.

The discussion is in line with the efforts of Bulgaria and other affected countries defending the freedom of freight transport, BGNES has reported.
