30,000 Bulgarians receive jabs against Covid-19 in last three days
Nearly 30,000 vaccines have been administered in the last three days in Bulgaria.This became clear at a meeting between Buglgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov with the National Operational Headquarters. The health authorities report extremely great interest among the citizens after providing green corridors for all citizens over the weekend. On Friday last week, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov insisted that at least 10,000 people be vaccinated every day. According to Borissov, 15,000 people can be immunized daily in the coming days, BNR reported. As of today, 25 mobile teams are starting inoculations of everyone willing to be vaccinated in smaller and more isolated towns and villages. 318 vaccination centres have been opened in the country at Regional Health Inspectorates, hospitals and polyclinics. The Chairman of the National Operational Headquarters, Prof. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski, reported an increase of 11.3% in the number of people received for hospital treatment of Covid-19 for a week.
Covid-19 vaccination already available with GPs in Bulgaria
As of today, GPs in Bulgaria are also starting to inoculate their patients against Covid-19. A total of 4,300 GPs are involved in the process. In the last month, they had to collect data from their patients wishing to be immunized. Health authorities say there are enough vaccines available, BNR reported. Today, more than 25,700 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine arrived in Bulgaria. According to the state health inspector Angel Kunchev, so far only one case of allergic reaction to a jab against coronavirus has been registered in Bulgaria, which has been controlled in the doctor's office.
Bulgaria reports 227 positive results of Covid-19 out of 2,792 tests
The new cases of Covid-19 in Bulgaria registered during the last 24 hours, are 227 with 2,792 tests performed, or almost 8% of the samples returned positive. This is shown by the data from the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. 15 people died of the infection, bringing the total death toll to 9,854. The active cases in Bulgaria at the moment are 26,560. Currently, 3,880 people are hospitalized, as 321 of them are in intensive care units. 114 people were registered as cured during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 200,252. Since the start of the campaign, 119,354 coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country, including 10,998 for the last 24 hours. 26,973 people received two doses of the vaccine.
Bulgaria reports fewer surgeries because of Covid-19 pandemic
A decline in the number of surgeries was reported last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, indicates an analysis of “The Hospital Index”. The number of cardiovascular surgeries decreased by 22% as compared to the previous year. The number of orthopedic surgeries fell 21.5% as compared to 2019. Neurosurgery was less impacted by the coronavirus pandemic as the number of neurological surgeries decreased with 8% year on year.
Gray economy in Bulgaria is brightening up amid Covid-19
The pandemic has proven the need to declare employment and income. Those who did not declare their income could not take advantage of the measures taken by the state to support businesses and people, agreed the participants at the round table on the so-called National Map of Undeclared Employment. In recent years, there has been a lightening of the economy in Bulgaria, show data from the Association of Industrial Capital. “This is proven by data on the average salary in Bulgaria which increased despite the challenges stemming from the Covid-19 crisis”, Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov said at the forum.
