Snowshoe trekking is being organized in the resort of Pamprovo in the Rhodope Mountain on 28 February, the Pamporovo tourist centre has announced.

At the moment skiing conditions there are excellent, 12 ski runs of varying degrees of difficulty are open and there is a great deal of interest in the trek.

The snowshoe trek on Sunday follows a new hiking route in the environs of the ski resort, and includes the locality “Iglata” (needle) which offers a breathtaking view of the mountain. The new route was actually the highlight of the summer programme in Pamporovo, which is a year-round resort. Horse-riding in the snow in the foothills of the peak is one more way to come in contact with the magnificent nature of the Rhodopes. Judging by the weather forecasts and the people working in the tourist sector, the skiing season in Pamporovo this year is expected to last through March.
