The environment ministry and the European Commission’s Life programme are organizing an online discussion on invasive plant species on 12 March, BTA reports.

Invasive alien plant species are introduced into Bulgaria along different channels and cause nature irreversible damage, but also inflict damage on the economy and harm human health. They cause asthma, allergies, skin diseases, undermine farming produce, cause loss of land, pastures and meadows, inflict damage on buildings, pipes, roads, cultural and historical sites. Removing them and restoring the infrastructure comes at enormous cost, the organizers of the discussion say.
