The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency is going to destroy 9,900 kilograms of frozen chicken legs from Poland infected with salmonella. The food safety agency took samples of the chicken upon its arrival in Bulgaria. The meat is not allowed to be traded on the Bulgarian market.
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has seized salmonella-infected chicken for the first time this year, but the problem with meat infected with salmonella from Poland has existed for several years now, reminded the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Veselina Milanova. In 2019, more than 100 tons of salmonella-infected chicken reached the Bulgarian shops. This continued in 2020, but inspectors from the Food Safety Agency reacted quicker and did not allowed the shipments to reach the market.
