President Radev’s decree convening the first sitting of the newly elected 45th National Assembly on April 15, 2021 is expected to be promulgated in an extraordinary issue of the State Gazette today. This country’s President Rumen Radev signed the decree yesterday.
After convening the first sitting of the new National Assembly, Bulgaria’s head of state is to hold consultations with the political parties and coalitions represented in the 45th Parliament. Later, President Radev is to hand the largest parliamentary group (GERB / SDS) a mandate to form a new government.
If GERB / SDS fails to form a government, President Radev will hand the second largest parliamentary group (There is Such a People) a mandate to form a new cabinet.
Should the second attempt fails as well, this country’s head of state has a free hand to offer a mandate to any Parliamentary group of his choice, informed the Bulgarian National Radio’s reporter Mira Stefanova.
