On the first working day of the new parliament, Democratic Bulgaria coalition submitted proposals for legislative amendments to the Constitution and the Electoral Code. It is proposed to reduce the term of office of the Prosecutor General from 7 to 5 years, and for him to be elected by parliament by a majority of three-fifths or 144 deputies, and not by the Supreme Judicial Council, as it is now, BNR's reporter Dobrina Karambolova reported.

The bill for changes in the Electoral Code envisages the Central Election Commission to have the status of an independent professional body, the quota principle in its formation to be abolished, and the mandate of the current commission to be terminated. The project also proposes the introduction of postal voting. According to the petitioners, this will make it easier for Bulgarians abroad, as well as people with disabilities, who often find it difficult to exercise their right to vote, BNT reported.
