President attends celebration of April Uprising anniversary

Residents and guests of the village of Petrich near Zlatitsa participate in the celebration of the 145th anniversary of the outbreak of the April Uprising in the area.

President Rumen Radev is guest to the event and will lay a wreath in front of the monument "The Bell" and pay visit to the church of St. George the Victorious. In the evening, the Bulgarian head of state will attend the ceremonial military fireworks inspection and will greet the people in the central square. Earlier, a reenactment of welcoming Lady Emily Strangford to the village took place. After the suppression of the April Uprising she raised funds and built six hospitals on the territory of Bulgaria, one of which is in the village.
