BNR receives special prize of Svetozár Stračina international competition of folk music recordings

The Bulgarian National Radio was awarded the special prize of the international competition and presentation of folk music recordings Svetozár Stračina. This is yet another recognition for the Bulgarian National Radio over the years.

The special prize for the best interpretation went to "Trakiiski Melodii" piece performed by Simeon Iliev. The recording was made by Radio Varna on May 14, 2020, producer Kristian Nedelchev, sound engineer- Hristo Nikolov.

Simeon Iliev is from Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. He is eighteen years old and studies rebec at the National School of Folk Arts "Philip Kutev" in the town of Kotel in the classes of Velichka Todorova. The young rebec player impressed the jury with his virtuoso performance and imitation of a bagpipe.
