The literary routes restart in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia

The 3rd edition of the literary journey to emblematic places for Bulgarian culture in the capital city began with a story about the two largest Bulgarian literary magazines from more than a century ago - "Misal" (Thought) and its successor "Zlatorog" (The Golden Horn). The role of guide in this route is played by the literary historian and theorist Prof. Mihail Nedelchev, and his starting point is the house of Dr. Krastyo Krastev at 67 Khan Asparuh Street. This year, on May 31, we mark 155 years since the birth of the first Bulgarian professional literary critic, writer, translator and public figure.

"The goal is for people to see and appreciate the city in a new way, to experience moments of our cultural history in their own way," Todora Radeva, manager of the Read Sofia Foundation, told BNR-Radio Sofia.

For the first time such literary tours were organized in 2018. Since then, many people have shown interest in the Bulgarian classic writers and landmarks in Sofia related to important events in their life and work. Some of the places no longer exist, but the memory of them and the writers is alive, and the literary routes are of great interest, their organizers say.
