Water reserves for electricity production reach one of highest levels

Photo: BGNES

The large dams used for electricity production are full to over 90 percent of their capacity, Dimitar Zarchev of the Electricity System Operator has told BNR. He added that the total water capacity had reached one of the highest levels for the past 2 years. Currently, there is no increased production from hydroelectric power plants.

"When one of the units of Kozloduy NPP was recently shut down for scheduled repairs because of a technical problem and the other unit worked at reduced capacity, the hydroelctric power plants were those that provided the necessary electricity to the country," Dimitar Zarchev added.
