Bulgaria to increase digital skills of older people with funds under the Recovery Plan

A total of BGN 380 million will be directed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan to the creation of digital skills through a platform for basic training. The project, which will affect the improvement of computer literacy in the elderly, will be implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs. 

According to data from the European Statistical Office from 2019, Bulgarians are in last place in Europe in digital skills. That is why at least 1.6 million people have to go through courses to acquire and upgrade skills to work with new technologies. "The pandemic has greatly intensified these processes," commented caretaker Deputy Social Minister Ivan Krastev.
