“Two million people in Bulgaria have been vaccinated and that places the country in last position in Europe in the number of vaccinations, which are voluntary in Bulgaria. Less than 50% of the medical staff have been vaccinated, one of the reasons being that many of them have contracted and recovered from the virus. Still, there has been an increase in the number of vaccinations of people in the over 60 age group. More than 60% of them have received their first dose of vaccine, and when full vaccination outreach among the elderly is achieved we shall be able to breathe easier in the event of an increase in the number of infections,” said interim Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov in an interview for the BNR.

Minister Katsarov added that on 24 July the Ministry of Health will present an overall analysis of the number of coronavirus recoveries in the country since the start of the pandemic, and that these will be most complete statistics to date.
