Greece’s tourism booms, despite the stringent anti-epidemic measures and the increased number of people infected with coronavirus. August has been very successful for this country’s tourism, Greece’s Ministry of Tourism announced and voiced hopes that September will be successful as well, reported the correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio in Greece Katya Peeva. Northern Greece is visited mainly by Bulgarian and Romanian tourists who refrain from travelling by ferryboats to the Greek islands, comment Greece’s tour operators. Hotel occupancy on the Greek islands also exceeds 80%, despite the Covid-19 restrictions introduced by the authorities. All hotels on Mykonos and Santorini islands are fully booked for September.

On August 16, new measures restricting the freedom of movement of unvaccinated people came into force in North Macedonia.
