Zemen Monastery is a preferred place for one-day and weekend trips. It is located 70 km southwest of Sofia and 1.5 km from the town of Zemen.



The church of St. John the Theologian in the Zemen Monastery dates back to the 11th century, which makes it one of the oldest monuments of mediaeval Bulgarian architecture and fine arts.
