The monitoring group is not an investigative body. Our goal is to gather information and provoke debate, to acquaint the European Parliament with the real problems in Bulgaria and to find tools for solving them. This was said to BNR by Bulgarian MEP Elena Yoncheva from the group of the socialists.

Yoncheva is a member of the delegation of MEPs who are on visit to Sofia to study the situation with the rule of law in the country.
"Bulgaria is already in the focus of MEPs, and whoever comes to power will not be allowed to drastically violate the rule of law and freedom of the media," Yoncheva said.
MEPs will hold a press conference before leaving on September 24th.
