Bulgaria's Electronic Media Council reviewed the documents of the five candidates for director general of the Bulgarian National Radio and decided that they all met the requirements of the Radio and Television Act. Thus, Milen Mitev (currently acting Director General), Zheni Gadzhalova (former chief accountant in the media), Mitko Dimitrov (former head of Radio Sofia of the BNR), Ivo Todorov (former programming director of BNR) and Svetoslav Kostov (former director general of BNR) go to the second stage of the procedure.

On August 4, the CEM accepted the resignation of Andon Baltakov as director general of the Bulgarian National Radio. CEM chose Milen Mitev as acting director general.
