Georgi Gospodinov wins the most prestigious literary award in Italy

Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov won the most prestigious literary award in Italy "Premio Strega Europeo". Gospodinov won the award with his novel "Time Shelter" which was among the five finalists in the category translated books. The award was presented at a ceremony at the Turin International Book Fair.

Georgi Gosodinov competed with famous authors such as Romanian writer Anna Blandiana, "Goncourt" winner Hervé Le Tellier and Anne Weber who won the German Book Prize 2020. Gospodinov's book was selected by a jury consisting of 20 Italian writers - winners or contenders for the Strega Prize.
