Caretaker Minister of Justice Ivan Demerdzhiev stated that he was ready to submit a demand for the early termination of the term of office of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev.

In “The government talking, openly!” in the government’s Facebook profile, he stated that there are many reasons for this and they are connected with the work of the prosecutor’s office on given cases, as well as with the public distrust, as demonstrated during the 2020 protests.

Minister Demerdzhiev added that before taking any steps against the prosecutor general, the Constitutional Court will first have to come out with a ruling on the question the previous Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov referred to the Court: Can the minister demand the early termination of the term of office of the prosecutor general?
