Despite the pandemic, the activity of the Confucius Institute at the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and St. Methodius” has not died out, and interest in the Chinese language is constantly growing as it is often chosen as a second foreign language by students majoring in Applied Linguistics.
The institute in the medieval Bulgarian capital was founded in 2012 as its main activity is to spread and popularize the ancient Chinese culture, which many modern Bulgarians are curious about.
The leading event in November is a series of lectures by popular personalities related to the Asian country. Among the lecturers are Chinese scholars from Sofia University and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, diplomats, specialists in Chinese medicine, etc. These lectures will be with free access, available to the general public and also online.
