We have not set an exact date for the return of upper grades students to school, Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Education and Science Academician Nikolay Denkov said. When Bulgaria receives the new shipment of Covid-19 tests, the Ministry of Education will distribute them across the country within 24 hours and parents will be informed two days before the return of upper grades students to school.

In order to facilitate Covid-19 testing, upper grades students may be asked to use another type of test and self-collect a nasal swab sample. We have ordered a total of 3 million tests. It will become clear whether there will be enough money for free testing next year after the adoption of the 2022 state budget.

Covid-19 testing at school will cease when coronavirus morbidity falls below 250 cases per 100,000 people, Minister Denkov said further.
