European leaders’ reactions to tragic accident on Struma Motorway

The leaders of European institutions have reacted to the tragic accident on the Struma motorway in Bulgaria.

"My deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who perished in the tragic bus accident last night in Bulgaria. I also wish a fast recovery to those injured. In these terrible times, Europe stands in solidarity with you," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on Twitter.

"Our thoughts are with the victims from the horrific accident in Bulgaria, their families, and all the front-line workers. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Stay strong. The EU is ready to provide support in any way we can," President of the European Council Charles Michel wrote.

"Terrible to hear that at least 45 people, among them a dozen children, died in a bus accident in Bulgaria last night. Our sincere condolences and much strength to their families and friends. We stand with Bulgaria and North Macedonia on this tragic day," President of the European Parliament David Sassoli wrote.
