Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev launched the 19th edition of the Bulgarian Christmas charity campaign in the presence of medics, parents and children. The initiative is held under the auspices of Bulgaria’s head of state.

“For many years, the Bulgarian Christmas initiative has been contributing to donation traditions and has proved that we can live in a humane society”, President Radev said in the children’s ward of the Ophthalmology Clinic at Alexandrovska Hospital in Sofia.

This year’s edition of the Bulgarian Christmas charity campaign will be held under the motto “Give Hope to a Child in Need”- in support of young patients who need intensive care. The money raised during the campaign will be also used for the purchase of medical equipment for children’s clinics and wards. Last year, the Bulgarian Christmas initiative raised EUR 948,000. It helped 500 children and 27 hospitals across Bulgaria.
