Following a decision of Bulgaria’s caretaker cabinet, this country will keep 9% value added tax on foods, non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine served in catering establishments until the end of the emergency epidemic situation. Baby products, books and services provided in sports halls will be also taxed with a 9% VAT during that period. Tour operators can also benefit from the lower VAT rate.

The cabinet’s decision is part of the package containing amendments to tax laws proposed by this country’s caretaker Minister of Finance Valeri Balchev.
