It is extremely important for Bulgaria that nuclear power be recognized as a tool for achieving the targets of the European Green Deal. It is not in the interest of investors if nuclear energy is recognized only as a temporary instrument, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said in Brussels before the start of the European Council meeting.

“Everyone in Bulgaria has been given the opportunity to receive Covid-19 vaccines. Bulgaria managed to contain the coronavirus pandemic without imposing a lockdown, which would have disastrous consequences" this country’s head of state Radev noted in response to a question whether he expected that Bulgaria would be subject to pressure from its partners because ot the low vaccination rate.

“There is tension between the EU and Russia, but many European leaders believe that dialogue and de-escalation should be sought”, Rumen Radev went on to say.
