A party without any MPS receives biggest subsidy

The Ministry of Justice published a report on the state subsidies the political parties and coalitions received for the parliamentary election on 14 November in the first tranche – for the period until the end of 2021. The report shows that over 2,300 million Leva have been paid out, and that the biggest subsidy – 708,000 Leva - was received by the coalition which won the election We Continue the Change. The money is distributed among the parties which are mandate holders – Volt, Middle European Class and Social Democrats - as the political project of Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev We Continue the Change is not registered as a party.

The report shows further that a formation which does not have a single MP in the 47th National Assembly – Social Democrats – received the biggest sum of 637,000 Leva, or 90% of the sum total,  more than the subsidy received by the second political force GERB. According to Middle European Class the distribution of the subsidies within We Continue the Change is set down in the coalition agreement.
