The team of the candidate for the post of President of the Bulgarian Football Union, BFU, Dimitar Berbatov has submitted papers to the Union, to the effect that the BFU’s regular congress on 18 March should be electoral.

At the end of 2021 Dimitar Berbatov announced he had collected the signatures of more than one-third of the clubs-members of the BFU for changing the agenda of the congress and electing a new president of the organization.

If the signatures collected are accepted by the BFU management, then on 18 March, the current President of the Union Borislav Mihaylov and Dimitar Berbatov will once again vie for president of Bulgaria’s highest football authority. According to regulations, the Bulgarian Football union has two weeks to answer whether the congress will be electoral.
