A 350-year old common oak tree growing close to Studena village near Svilengrad is holder of the title “A tree with roots” for 2021. The tree, known as the "Grandpa Kolyo's tree" rises at the entrance of Studena, and can be seen from every part of the village.

Winner in the “Centuries-Old Trees Speak” category is the Chuchur plane tree, again 350 years old, growing in a locality called Chuchur near Godeshevo village.

Students from the “Travellers in Graovo ethnography” club at the Vassil Levski secondary school and regional Raise centre in the town of Breznik earned “Young nature lover” awards. Taking care of the downy oak near Breznishki Isvor village has been their mission for four years.

A special prize went to the students from the Electronic Systems Technology School at the Technological University, Sofia, the Henry Ford Professional Secondary School of Transport and Energy, and the St. Kliment Ohridski secondary School No. 32 in Sofia. They sent the story of their spruce tree, the first tree they planted as part of their campaign to collect and recycle telephones, and with the money raised, to buy and plant trees.
