Sofia City Prosecutor's Office investigates possible use of Pegasus spyware in Bulgaria

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether state services have illegally used the Pegasus spyware to wiretap Bulgarian citizens, the press center of the Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office requested information from the special services and the National Bureau for Control of Special Intelligence Means as to whether state entities have used the spyware.

The Prosecutor’s Office is checking whether Pegasus spyware, which allows remote monitoring of digital phones and computers, was sold in the country and to whom it was given. 

Talking to reporters in parliament building, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov stated that the State Agency for National Security had no data of the Pegasus spyware having been used by any Bulgarian institution.
