Prosecutor's Office receives information from Spain regarding the so-called “Barcelona Gate” case

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office announced at a briefing that it received 219 pages from Spain in connection with the so-called "Barcelona Gate" case. The Prosecutor’s Office will examine the information when it is translated into Bulgarian.

The report of the Spanish authorities allegedly contains details about the purchase of a house in Barcelona to the tune of EUR 5 million by Bulgarian nationals. Recently, Premier Petkov presented the Prosecutor’s Office with a list of 19 individuals linked in media reports to high-level crime and corruption and said that he expected the prosecutors to start doing their job. Media reports associate the purchase of the property with a money laundering scheme and former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov
