Assen Vassilev: My visit to the USA was connected with Bulgaria’s energy security

Bulgaria will develop new nuclear generating capacity and this is envisaged by the coalition agreement, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev said in the National Assembly. In his words, the purpose of his visit to the United States was to discuss different scenarios, if Bulgaria's energy security is put at risk due to the crisis in the region, the BNT reported.

“There isn’t any working prototype yet, Assen Vassilev said with regard to the development of small nuclear installations in the United States. However, we got acquainted with some available technologies, including 4 or 5 geothermal technologies, as well as electricity storage technologies, Minister Vassilev added.
