The Black sea port city of Varna hosts a hackathon for gaming amateurs and professionals. From March 3 to 6, forty developers will team up to develop a game about the oldest golden treasure in the world.

The theme was chosen on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis, the Varna Municipality said. The oldest gold treasures and jewels in the world have been found at the site, dating from 4600 to 4200 BC.

Over 70 computer programmers and speakers will discuss the problems and innovations of game development, monetization and marketing.

"We are very happy that the Municipality of Varna has recognized the scale of this event and the influence that gaming culture has among young people.

The Varna gold treasure is not only a national, but also a world cultural heritage, and I am happy that we can popularize it in such a way that it finds its way to a new audience," points out the main organizer of the Sea Game Jam initiative Radostin Petrov.

The organizers plan to make the hackathon a traditional event to be held every year in spring and autumn.
