Education Ministry looks into three scenarios for the start of the new school year

Photo: BGNES

Bulgaria's Ministry of Education is discussing three options for the beginning of the new school year - 1 September, 7 September or the usual date of September 15. The reason for the possible revision of the starting date is the fact that Bulgarian students study the least and rest the longest compared to European countries. If the first school day remains September 15, the year will be increased by ten days. The options are to be discussed with trade unions and employers in the secondary education system.

The Ministry of Education and Science assures that despite the discussions the school year in the autumn will start again on September 15.
