Bulgaria must coordinate the closure of its ports to Russian-flagged vessels with the European Commission, Minister of Transport Nikolay Sabev noted.

In Minister Sabev’s view, the closure of Bulgarian ports to Russian-flagged ships will only limit the import of conventional raw materials, but will not affect the imports of petroleum products, natural gas, butane and propane gas, nuclear fuel and other strategic raw materials. In his words, many Russian vessels sail under a different flag, and Russian entrepreneurs and owners of goods, cargo and resources have offices in Switzerland and other countries. That is why Bulgaria, together with the European Commission, must do an in-depth analysis of the possibilities for categorical sanctions that cause the least amount of damage to our economy, says Minister Sabev.
