The resignation of Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev will not be the subject of talks with European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi during her visit to Bulgaria, Justice Minister Nadezhda Yordanova said. She clarified that the issue of seeking responsibility from the Prosecutor General is beyond the competence of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, unless it is a question of crimes with European funds.

On Thursday, Yodanova and Kovesi will discuss changes to the Judiciary Act to ensure effective delegation of Bulgarian prosecutors and easier referral to the European Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as amendments to the Penal Code to increase penalties for misuse of European money.

Nadezhda Yordanova pointed out during the annual business meeting with the government that the reform of the judiciary was in a completely new context and its lack would affect access to EU funds.
