Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev held a working meeting with security experts. In any serious crisis, the shortfalls in the response preparedness of the national security protection system are clearly visible. These shortfalls must be addressed in a prompt manner. Bulgaria should not wait for the next crisis to address these shortcomings, the participants agreed.

The country needs to adapt its legislation to the changed security environment. There is a lack of coherence in part of the legislation referring to the reaction procedures during different crises, the participants emphasized. The need for an effective early warning system was also discussed at the meeting.
