Naval mines from Odessa expected on Bulgarian coast after sea storm

Naval mines, reported to have been blown away by a sea storm off the coast of Odessa, may appear in Bulgarian territorial waters within 2-3 days, Burgas Regional Governor Stoyko Tankov said.

He specified that there were no ships and boats in the sea because of the high waves, so the mines did not pose a threat to Bulgarian ships. Owners of boats, cargo and fishing vessels have already been warned by the authorities.

There is no data yet on how many mines have been washed off Odessa’s coast by the sea storm. "I'm not even sure if there were any mines at all - as this information was provided to us by the Russian services," the governor admitted.
